The elusive sound of tape...

Theres nothing quite like a real analog synth through real hardware fx and crushed to real tape. But often when I want that sound in a typical session it completely kills the flow to go digging for cables, and cleaning oxide buildup off dusty old tape heads, and troubleshooting a cranky 40-yr-old synth that suddenly decides it needs some maintenance. Wouldnt it be great to have all that character and warmth in a plugin?
